KDE Gear 26.04.3, the third maintenance update in the 26.04 series, is now available. As usual with point releases in the Gear series, this is not a feature-heavy update but focuses on fixing issues. Here are the most important ones.
Among the highlighted changes, Elisa now properly changes its output device when the global audio output is changed. This should make the music player behave better when users switch between speakers, headphones, HDMI audio, Bluetooth devices, or other available outputs from the system settings.
KDE Connect also received several fixes: a fix for file transfers when notification sending is enabled, while the full changelog adds more detail, including automatic file renaming fixes, a new timeout to prevent port leaks, a crash fix when closing settings, filtering of advertised mDNS addresses, and a fix to avoid echoing phone notifications back to the same phone.
Kdenlive, KDE’s video editor, addresses issues such as the timeline playhead moving out of view during playback, potential crashes, broken Rectangular Alpha mask keyframes, multi-stream video clip handling, and problems moving a rotoscoping shape after monitor playback.
Dolphin, KDE’s file manager, received some small improvements, as the search chip now uses the system style for better theme consistency, and a fix prevents default view properties from being removed unexpectedly.
Among the other apps from the suite, Calligra now builds correctly with Poppler 26.04 and newer. Konversation resolves context menu positioning on Wayland and prevents a Sonnet-related crash. NeoChat includes a crash fix for empty replies to space jobs.
Additional fixes include resolving a crash in Baloo Widgets on empty selection, improved legacy OpenGL support in KSudoku and Kubrick, enhanced ticket and receipt extraction in Kitinerary, and forward compatibility updates for KDE Itinerary with KCalendarCore 6.28.
For additional details, see the official announcement. KDE Gear 26.04.3 tarballs are available on the source info page for manual compilation, and the full changelog provides additional details on the update.
Most KDE Gear 26.04.3 apps will soon be available on Flathub and Snap Store. Rolling release distributions can expect the app collection to be added to their respective distros’ repositories in the coming days and weeks.
Lastly, this is also the final maintenance release in the KDE Gear 26.04 series. The next major update will be KDE Gear 26.08, currently expected on August 20.
