Wine 5.14 Released, Now Support Initial Version Of The Webdings Font

The Wine team today announced the released of Wine 5.14. Above all, the new version bring support for initial version of the Webdings font.

Wine (originally an acronym for “Wine Is Not an Emulator”)  is an open-source project. It is a compatibility layer capable of running Windows applications on several POSIX-compliant operating systems, such as Linux, macOS, & BSD. In other words, through it you can run Windows applications in Linux.

Wine 5.14 is the next development release on the long road to Wine 6.0.  It’s one of the driving forces behind Steam Play Proton.

What’s new in Wine 5.14

  • More restructuration of the console support
  • Initial version of the Webdings font
  • Beginnings of PE conversion of the MSVCRT libraries
  • Various bug fixes

On the subject of bug fixes, Wine 5.14 is coming with only 26 this time. Some freshly fixed, some sorted a while ago. These bug fixes include issues solved for Battle.net, Oblivion, Godot Engine, Diablo III, StarCraft: Brood War and more.

Most important, Wine 5.14 brings Webdings font. It’s quite amusing, considering it’s been around since the late 90s.
