The Tails team has released Tails 7.11, the latest update to the privacy-focused Debian-based Linux distro that routes internet traffic through the Tor network and minimizes traces on the host computer.
The most notable change is the update of the bundled Tor Browser to version 15.0.20. Beyond that, the release fixes a problem that could prevent Persistent Storage from being activated on certain computers.
Persistent Storage is Tails’ optional encrypted storage area that lets selected data and settings survive between sessions, even though the operating system is otherwise designed to leave as little trace as possible after shutdown.
Existing users can upgrade automatically from any Tails 7.0 or later installation directly to Tails 7.11 while keeping their Persistent Storage. If the automatic upgrade fails or Tails does not boot afterward, the developers recommend a manual upgrade.

Users with a Tails USB stick and Persistent Storage should upgrade rather than perform a fresh installation, as reinstalling Tails will erase the existing Persistent Storage.
