The Document Foundation has released LibreOffice 26.2.6, the sixth maintenance update in the 26.2 series, bringing 36 bug fixes across Writer, Calc, Impress, Base, document handling, and the UI. Just to mention that LibreOffice 26.2 is now the maintenance branch, while 26.8 is the current major release.
Writer sees several notable corrections. Image brightness and contrast adjustments, broken in earlier 26.2 builds, now work again. Problems preventing users from changing image transparency or switching image modes from the Image toolbar have also been fixed.
The update also resolves an issue where documents could remain stuck in read-only mode after being saved under a new filename. Other Writer fixes address crashes when changing footnote settings in HTML documents and when toggling the CJK manuscript grid while the Style Inspector is open.
Text rendering has also received attention. A problem where title characters were cut off at the bottom has been fixed, along with an issue where highlighted text backgrounds did not cover the full text height when Leading line spacing was used.
Calc gets an important fix for shared spreadsheets. Previously, using drag-fill or autofill saved only the original source cell change, causing filled cells to be lost for other users working on the same shared document.
Impress users benefit from several fixes as well. Inserted audio files could fail to play when a slideshow started, while certain malformed or unusual PPTX files could trigger crashes during import. Plus, Spreadsheet compatibility improves with a correction for how transparency is handled in certain XLSX files using OOXML color-change properties.
The release also fixes some performance issues when exporting large PowerPoint presentations to PDF. In addition, PDF export now correctly handles named hyperlinks, which could stop working when documents were exported from LibreOffice 26.2.
Several platform-specific problems were addressed too. On Windows, text in the Mail Merge dialog could become invisible using the light theme. Plasma users also get a fix for missing buttons in native message dialogs when using the Qt 6/KF6 backend.
On macOS, LibreOffice 26.2.6 fixes window-content jitter when resizing with Skia/Metal enabled, an intermittent Writer UI freeze lasting roughly nine to 45 seconds when using the vertical scrollbar, and a stack-overflow crash involving menu-key handling and AutoRecovery.

Linux users may also receive the update through their distribution’s software repositories once maintainers package the new version. The next (and last) update in the 26.2 series, 26.2.7, is scheduled for early October.
