LibreOffice 26.2.7 Released as Final Update to Older Stable Branch

LibreOffice 26.2.7 fixes DOCX compatibility, PDF hyperlinks, presentation audio, and macOS crashes ahead of the branch's end of support.

The Document Foundation has announced LibreOffice 26.2.7, the seventh and final maintenance update to the 26.2 series of its free open-source office suite.

One notable change addresses Microsoft Word compatibility. Writer fixes an issue where hyperlinks in a DOCX document’s table of contents could stop working until the table was updated. Another fix prevents certain DOCX files with date-picker data bindings from becoming unreadable in Microsoft Word after saving in LibreOffice.

PDF export has been improved, fixing a bug that caused named hyperlinks to stop working in exported documents. Additional Writer fixes address a crash when using findAll() with search attributes, incorrect image proportions after changing the anchor of a rotated image, and unexpected resizing of page-anchored frames when opening their properties.

For Impress users, LibreOffice 26.2.7 fixes audio playback problems in presentations, including a Windows-specific regression that prevented hearing embedded audio. Calc gains support for Web Query (.iqy) files, a format for importing web-based data into spreadsheets.

On macOS, the update fixes a startup crash affecting macOS 27.0.x and a rendering issue with non-breaking hyphens on Apple Silicon systems. Other fixes address missing check marks in GTK menus and white lines appearing across images when scrolling.

The release upgrades the bundled Python interpreter to version 3.12.16 and resolves errors related to the PYTHONHOME environment variable that could occur when launching LibreOffice or after upgrading.

LibreOffice 26.2.7 is the final release in the older stable branch, which reaches end of life on November 30, 2026. The Document Foundation recommends that users move to the newer LibreOffice 26.8 series by the end of November, after the expected release of LibreOffice 26.8.3.

Currently, LibreOffice 26.8.2 is the latest version in the newer branch, while 26.2.7 provides a final set of maintenance fixes for users who remain on the mature release series.

LibreOffice 26.2.7 is available for Linux, Windows, and macOS from the project’s official download page. Windows users should note that the 26.2 series requires Windows 10 or newer.
