Welcome to the 44th week of Linuxiac’s 2025 Weekly Roundup — your go-to source for all things Linux & Open Source. Here’s a look at the biggest Linux and FOSS highlights from the past week (Oct 27 – Nov 2).

Linux Distributions

I reviewed five Linux distribution updates this week. The big highlight, of course, is Fedora 43. Additionally, we received a new ISO of the still-developing atomic AerynOS, along with a major update to SUSE Linux Enterprise. And for those into self-hosting, both TrueNAS and Unraid, two of the top NAS solutions, have rolled out new versions as well.

Software Updates

Apart from the distro releases, here’s a summary of the latest open-source software updates that earned a spot in our news.

Must-Reads You Can’t Miss

There was also some exciting (and, unfortunately, one worrying) news from the Linux and FOSS ecosystem, so stay tuned and don’t miss out. Here are the highlights.

Well, that was all. If you missed our previous wrap-up for the week of Oct 20 – 26, you can catch up by checking here, where you’ll find DietPi 9.18, Ultramarine Linux 42, Clonezilla Live 3.3, KDE Plasma 6.5, VirtualBox 7.2.4, Jellyfin 10.11, Uptime Kuma 2.0, Canonical Launches Canonical Academy, NTFSPlus Proposed as New NTFS Driver for Linux, Foot Terminal, AlmaLinux 10.1 Adds Native Btrfs Filesystem Support, and more.

Needless to say, keep an eye on Linuxiac—it’s the perfect way to stay updated on all the latest from Linux and Open Source.

Wishing you a fantastic week ahead!
