KDE has released KDE Gear 26.08.1, the first maintenance update to the 26.08 series of its application bundle.
Kdenlive video editor is among the applications receiving the most attention. The video editor fixes several crashes, including one triggered when changing the Timeline Preview while creating a new project, another when saving and exiting after deleting a sequence, and a possible crash when stopping a failed audio recording.
Another crash affecting ripple editing while the project monitor is hidden has been addressed. Kdenlive also fixes a hang that could occur when closing the splash screen, switches transcoding from the deprecated FFmpeg -vsync option, and resolves a problem with unreadable tabs on Windows.
Dolphin file manager also receives a batch of refinements. KDE fixed issues with the active pane in split view, incorrect icon sizing, group headers appearing over the view header, and default zoom levels. Plus, tabs can now be closed with a middle click regardless of whether their close button is visible.
For Okular users, KDE Gear 26.08.1 fixes a crash when saving documents, as well as another crash caused by broken DVI files. The document viewer also receives a backported SyncTeX security fix and addresses problems involving form-field pointers after saving.
KDE Connect received several fixes as well. These include a crash when an icon finished downloading after its notification was closed, a macOS crash in the system volume plugin, and a clipboard issue that tried to share directories. Notification handling and the orientation of the expand/collapse arrow in the Plasma widget have also been corrected.
Moreover, NeoChat resolves several crashes and fixes deleting selected text with Backspace. KTorrent addresses a crash in its Magnet Manager, memory leaks in the statistics plugin, and a use-after-free issue in its GeoIP class. AudioTube updates its bundled yt-dlp component to restore playback.
There are a few functional additions mixed in with the fixes as well. Merkuro Mail gains permanent deletion along with Forward, Reply, and Reply All actions, while KItinerary adds a parser for Air Canada flights and updates its airport and train station data handling.
Other applications receiving fixes include Ark, Elisa, Kasts, Kongress, Konsole, KOrganizer, Koko, and various KDE PIM and public transport components.
For more details, see the official announcement. KDE Gear 26.08.1 tarballs are available on the source info page for manual compilation, and the full changelog provides additional details on the update.
As usual, users on rolling-release distributions should see the new versions arrive through their regular software updates soon.
