TUXEDO Computers, a hardware vendor that specialises in providing Linux systems revealed the TUXEDO Pulse 15 and it sounds like a wonderful beast.
TUXEDO Computers has introduced one of the first Linux laptops powered by an AMD Ryzen 4000 series processor. Firstly, the new Tuxedo Pulse 15 is a thin and light laptop with a 15.6 inch display, and choice of a 45-watt AMD Ryzen 5 4600H or Ryzen 7 4800H “Renoir” processor.
This isn’t the first AMD CPU powered unit from TUXEDO, as they also launched the TUXEDO Book BA15 back in May but that was on a previous generation of the Ryzen processor so this is much more exciting.
The new TUXEDO Pulse 15 laptop is equipped with a 5.6 inch Full HD IPS non-glare, non-touch display, offering users a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. Also comes with stereo 2W speakers, an HD webcam, and a backlit keyboard. The Pulse 15 laptop can be powered by the 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 4800H or the 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 4600H both of which are supported by up to 64 GB DDR4 3200 MHz Dual Channel and AMD Radeon Graphics.

For a laptop with a 15.6 inch screen and a 91.25 Wh battery (which is removable), the laptop is surprisingly compact. At the same time, it measuring 356mm x 234mm x 17mm (14″ x 9.2″ x 0.67″) and weighing 1.5 kg (about 3.3 pounds) thanks to a magnesium chassis.
A serious bit of enthusiast kit, with the power to back it up too. It comes with a “91 Wh Lithium-Polymer battery” which they say can give you 10 hours of run-time in “practical use”.
“The low weight as well as its compact design is due to the robust magnesium chassis, which gives the powerful AMD-only Linux Notebook a very elegant touch. Via 2x DDR4 RAM slots, the TUXEDO Pulse 15 can be equipped with up to 64 GB RAM with up to 3200 MHz in high-performance dual channel mode.”
TUXEDO Pulse 15 is certainly Linux laptop. You can select Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, or the company’s Tuxedo_OS as your operating system. Even if you wish you can pay extra to have Windows installed.
Alternately, you can save about $80 by ordering a Tuxedo Pulse 15 without any storage or operating system at all if you’d rather supply your own.
With a weight of only 1.5 kg and ultra compact dimensions of 356.4 x 233.73 x 16.8 mm, the TUXEDO Pulse 15 is the ideal mobile computer for users who are on the go a lot and frequently transport this thin power machine.
So, the TUXEDO’s Linux laptop is up for pre-order now, and should begin shipping in mid-August. The price starting from 896 Euros ($1025).
