The Phosh developers have released version 0.58 of the Linux mobile shell, with an improved screenshot notification. Users can now open the captured image or its folder directly from the notification, making the screenshot workflow more convenient.
Moreover, the Caffeine quick setting has gained more flexibility, allowing users to configure which features are inhibited while it is enabled. Phosh 0.58 also improves startup tracking for Flatpak applications and apps that own a D-Bus name.

On the compositor side, Phoc 0.58 adds basic support for version 2 of the text-input-v3 protocol to improve compatibility with GTK 4.24. Support for version 4 of layer-shell-effects has also landed, allowing clients to distinguish between compositor-driven and user-driven surface movements.
Phoc introduces a new interface for thumbnail rendering in the Phosh private protocol to speed up Phosh’s thumbnail overlay. A crash related to fling gestures, sometimes triggered when closing the top panel, has also been fixed.
The Stevia on-screen keyboard now allows completion dictionaries to be installed inside a user’s home directory, a useful change for immutable Linux systems where writing to system locations may not be possible. The accompanying phosh-osk-data package also gains an English completion database and a new plain installation mode for installing data into $HOME.
Additionally, the PFS file selector can now create folders while saving files and can mount or unmount network shares and SD cards.
Phosh First Boot 0.2 introduces several account setup changes, including configurable minimum username and password lengths, automatically adding newly created users to the sudo group, and using systemd-homed’s LUKS backend by default.
Device-related improvements arrive through gmobile 0.7.4, which adds display panel support for the Google Pixel 3 XL. The release also ensures Google Pixel 9a support ships in the provided data and adjusts the display corner radii used for the Fairphone 5.
Other components received smaller fixes, including Phosh Mobile Settings, xdg-desktop-portal-phosh, and the Rust-based Phosh Session Services.
Phosh 0.58 is based on GNOME 50 and wlroots 0.20.2, alongside updated versions of several other components used by the mobile environment.
