PeerTube 7.3 Brings Multilingual Emails, Custom Branding Options

PeerTube 7.3, an open-source, decentralized video platform, adds multilingual emails, new admin tools, easier branding, and live stream scheduling.

Over three months after the 7.2 release, PeerTube, a decentralized video hosting platform developed as a free and open-source alternative to centralized ones, rolled out the third update to its 7.0 series, version 7.3.

One of the biggest changes in this release is how emails are handled. Until now, all of them were sent from PeerTube instances that were only available in English. But now this is changed, as emails can be translated into any of the languages supported by the platform.

In light of this, French and Chinese are already fully translated, while other languages will follow as contributions are added.

On the administration side, the horizontal menu has been replaced with a cleaner side menu that makes navigating settings easier.

On top of that, two new configuration sections have been additionally introduced: one for customizing colors and button shapes, and another for uploading logos, favicons, banners, and images used across the platform, including those displayed on social media.

Moreover, a wizard now guides administrators through basic configuration, such as the platform name, description, logo, and overall role—whether private, community, or institutional. If skipped at installation, it can be launched again later from the settings menu.

Live streaming support has also been extended. It is now possible to schedule streams by setting a start date and time, with the information clearly shown both on the stream’s page and in the channel’s video list.

In other words, the audience can see what’s coming up and plan ahead instead of waiting for a stream to go live without notice.

Lastly, the playlist management page has been redesigned for easier use, with new options for setting the public display order. Admins can now define default values for video license, visibility, and comment policy, ensuring consistency across uploads. On the user side, a new option allows listing and revoking active login sessions as needed.
