GParted Live 1.8.0-2 is a new stable update to this popular Debian-based live environment for disk partitioning, delivering the recently released GParted 1.8 alongside refreshed system components.
The release is now built from the Debian Sid repository as of January 27, 2026, providing newer core components than previous images. The Linux kernel has been updated to version 6.18.5, improving hardware support and compatibility across a wider range of systems.
In addition, this release introduces a new mechanism to prevent blank screens during startup, addressing a common issue on certain graphics configurations.

GParted Live is a standalone, bootable Linux system intended for disk and partition management, supporting a wide range of filesystems, including ext2, ext3, ext4, Btrfs, XFS, FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, NTFS, HFS, HFS+, APFS (limited), UFS, and ReiserFS.
It can be run directly from removable media such as a USB drive or DVD, allowing users to create, resize, move, copy, check, and delete disk partitions without installing an operating system on the machine.
