Linux hardware manufacturer System76 has previewed its upcoming Thelio Prime, a small-form-factor Linux desktop that packs AMD Ryzen 9000 processors and dedicated graphics options into an 11-liter chassis. The machine is scheduled to launch on November 18, with prices starting at $1,599.
According to the company’s announcement, the Thelio Prime is its smallest Thelio desktop yet, measuring 288 × 148.9 × 281.9 mm. Despite its compact size, the system supports desktop-class AMD Ryzen 9000 Series processors, with graphics options including integrated AMD Radeon, discrete AMD GPUs, and NVIDIA RTX cards.

Memory configurations go up to 96GB of dual-channel DDR5 RAM, while storage options reach 8TB across two M.2 slots, one supporting PCIe Gen5 NVMe drives and the other PCIe Gen4. A 600W 80+ certified power supply powers the hardware.
One interesting design choice is the dual-chamber cooling system. The processor and graphics card have separate airflow paths, which System76 says help maintain low temperatures and noise levels despite limited internal space.
The chassis uses 1.5mm aluminum, complemented by a smoked-glass front panel and machined stainless steel details. Magnetic side panels allow tool-free access for cleaning and upgrading components with standard replacement parts.
Thelio Prime can be positioned vertically or horizontally. Its magnetic feet can be moved from the bottom to the side, allowing the computer to fit on shelves or in spaces where a conventional desktop tower would be impractical.
Connectivity includes 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and multiple USB ports. The top panel provides USB-A and USB-C connections plus microphone and headphone jacks, while the rear offers additional USB connectivity and a dedicated BIOS Flashback button.
On the software side, buyers can choose between Pop!_OS 24.04 LTS with the company’s COSMIC Desktop Environment and Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. System76 develops both hardware and COSMIC, allowing it to optimize the Linux desktop experience for its machines.

Thelio Prime is not available for purchase yet. System76 is currently accepting registrations on its website for launch notifications ahead of the November 18 release. Like other Thelio systems, System76 designs, engineers, and manufactures the new Prime at its facility in Denver, Colorado.
