Over two months after its 7.1 release, PeerTube, a decentralized video hosting platform developed as an alternative to centralized ones such as YouTube, rolled out the second update to the series, version 7.2.
The main improvement is video management, which is now simpler and clearer. Gone is the infinite scrolling approach; instead, PeerTube adopts an intuitive pagination system, making video navigation quicker and more efficient.
Users now have greater control and can select precisely which columns—such as “channels,” “duration,” “views,” and “comments“—appear on their management interface.
Additionally, users can filter videos based on visibility, whether live, password-protected, or available on demand. There’s also enhanced functionality for channel-specific browsing and an upgraded search experience, streamlining the entire video management process.

The publication and update pages for videos have also received attention. The interface now offers a neatly organized layout, separated into navigable sections via an accessible side sub-menu. This sub-menu integrates Studio and statistics pages, centralizing all video management tools. Non-available features are explicitly indicated, accompanied by helpful explanations.
Furthermore, the redesign introduces a handy horizontal banner that prominently displays options to save or discard changes or preview a video’s public page. Users will also appreciate the improved video replacement tool, which now supports intuitive drag-and-drop functionality.
Regarding privacy, PeerTube’s handling of sensitive content has been thoughtfully revamped. The updated system allows video creators to clearly indicate why they deem their content-sensitive, similar to the content warning system on Mastodon.

Lastly, viewer settings for sensitive content now include multiple viewing options, from simple warnings beneath thumbnails to blurred images or even entirely hiding certain content.
Platform administrators can further refine content visibility rules based on tags specified by content creators, offering an adaptable experience tailored to each viewer’s preferences.
