Immich 1.115 Allows Manual Linking of Live Motion Photos

Immich 1.115 self-hosted photo and video backup solution addresses backlog issues and introduces improved album management.

Immich, an open-sourceย self-hosted photo and video backup solution, has released version 1.115, which focuses on addressing a backlog of issues while introducing new features to enhance user experience.

Additionally, the team is working on redesigning the mobile app’s flows and layout to incorporate recently added features like folders and tags. They are actively seeking user feedback to make these improvements even better.

Immich 1.115 Highlights

Among the notable features in this release are:

  • Administration Button Relocation: The administration button on the web interface has been moved inside the profile sheet. This change cleans up the top app bar and improves navigation across all screen sizes.
  • Manual Linking and Unlinking of Live Motion Photos: Users can now manually link and unlink Live Photos (iOS), giving greater control over their photo libraries.
  • Default Exclusion Patterns: When a new external library is created, default exclusion patterns are now added. By default, folders like “@eaDir” used by Synology and files beginning with “._” are excluded. Of course, you can edit these patterns if you want to, but this is highly unlikely.

Moreover, Immich will now perform startup checks to ensure it can read and write to essential folders like “upload/,” “library/,” “thumbs/,” “encoded-videos/,” and “profile/.”

The server writes a “.immich” file to each of these folders and will fail to start if it cannot locate these files on subsequent restarts. This enhancement increases transparency when the “UPLOAD_LOCATION” mount is incorrectly configured or unavailable.

It’s also worth noting that when uploading a duplicate file via the web interface, users will now see an indicator of whether the duplicate is in the trash, along with the option to open the asset in a new tab.

On the bug fixes side, Immich 1.115 also addresses several long-standing bugs:

  • Web Sign-Out Synchronization: Signing out of the web interface now signs out of all open tabs, ensuring a more secure and consistent experience.
  • Accurate Album Asset Count: An issue causing inaccurate album asset counts has been resolved, providing users with correct information about their album contents.
  • Search Text Preservation: When switching between “Context” and “File name or extension” in search, the entered text is now preserved, making searches more efficient.
  • Mobile Editing Fixes: Editing a person’s name or birthdate on the mobile app has been fixed, enhancing the usability of the app’s people management features.

Furthermore, the Cursed Knowledge page has been updated with even more intriguing insights. Users interested in Immich’s deeper workings may find valuable information there.

Lastly, the Immich team is currently working on redesigning the mobile app’s flows and layout to better incorporate recently added features such as folders and tags. Improvements to album management on the mobile app are also being made.

Theย changelogย provides detailed information about all the novelties and improvements that Immich 1.115 brings.
