Proxmox Datacenter Manager 1.1 Adds Automated Host Installations

Proxmox Datacenter Manager 1.1 adds unattended host installation workflows, centralized subscriptions, and expanded guest management.

Following the debut 1.0 release in early December, the Proxmox team today released Proxmox Datacenter Manager 1.1, the latest update to its open-source centralized management platform for distributed Proxmox environments. It is based on Debian 13.5 “Trixie” and uses the Linux kernel 7.0 as the new stable default, along with ZFS 2.4.

A major enhancement in the new version is the integrated automated installation workflows. The platform now serves as a central configuration server for provisioning new hosts, enabling administrators to manage answer file configurations with predefined parameters for unattended deployments.

The new “Automated Installations” tab in the “Remotes” section provides access to these workflows, and installation progress can be tracked directly from the web interface. Proxmox has also introduced a token-based security mechanism to protect configurations and restrict access to authorized installations.

Moreover, Proxmox Datacenter Manager 1.1 introduces centralized subscription key management. The new subscription registry allows administrators to maintain a central pool of keys, assign them to specific remotes, and remove assignments as needed. Prepared answer files can include a subscription key, enabling new hosts to register subscriptions automatically during deployment.

For Proxmox Virtual Environment hyper-converged deployments, Proxmox Datacenter Manager 1.1 adds native monitoring for connected Ceph clusters. The consolidated view displays health, capacity, and real-time performance data across multiple clusters from a single panel.

On top of that, the Ceph dashboard provides details on Object Storage Daemons, monitors, managers, Metadata Servers, storage pools, CephFS, and cluster flags, offering administrators a central location to monitor distributed storage environments.

Infrastructure visualization has been enhanced with new geographic widgets that display connected remotes on a world map. Locations are defined through node or datacenter options on Proxmox VE remotes or via configuration settings for Proxmox Backup Server remotes.

Additional gauge-based widgets now display CPU, memory, and storage utilization. Local host metrics for the Proxmox Datacenter Manager host are also collected and shown through integrated RRD graphs on the node status panel.

Proxmox Datacenter Manager 1.1 also introduces initial support for centralized guest management. A new cross-remote view displays QEMU virtual machines and LXC containers from connected remotes in a sortable table or a tree grouped by remote.

The same interface offers text filtering to locate guests and provides access to common actions from a unified overview. Snapshot management is also available, allowing administrators to view snapshots in a parent-child tree and create, roll back, delete, or edit snapshot descriptions.

The release also adds a new “Resume” action for paused or suspended QEMU virtual machines, complementing existing start, stop, and shutdown operations. Proxmox states this is the initial phase of centralized guest orchestration, with additional day-to-day management tasks planned for future releases.

For additional details, see the announcement or visit the release notes. Users can download a full ISO image, upgrade from previous versions using the standard APT package management system, or install the platform on an existing Debian installation.
