Fedora Asahi Remix 43 is now available, bringing Fedora Linux 43 to Apple Silicon Macs with updated core components, expanded hardware support, and improved desktop experiences. It includes all major updates from Fedora 43 and adds platform-specific improvements.
One of the most notable changes is the upgrade to RPM 6.0 and the adoption of the DNF5 backend for PackageKit. The change benefits both KDE Plasma Discover and GNOME Software, improving performance and reliability during software installation and updates.
Moreover, Fedora Asahi Remix 43 adds support for the Mac Pro, improves microphone functionality on M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBooks, and enables 120Hz refresh rate for built-in displays on MacBook Pro 14- and 16-inch models.
On the desktop side, KDE Plasma 6.6 is the flagship environment, aligning with Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop 43 and bringing the latest features and refinements from the KDE ecosystem. A GNOME edition is also available, featuring GNOME 49 and maintaining parity with Fedora’s official GNOME offering.
Alongside the main desktop variants, Fedora Asahi Remix 43 includes a Fedora Server edition for headless deployments and a Minimal image for users who want to build a custom setup from scratch. A custom Calamares-based initial setup wizard is also included to simplify installation and onboarding.
Users can install Fedora Asahi Remix 43 by following the official installation guide. Existing users on versions 41 or 42 can upgrade using the standard Fedora upgrade process. Upgrades via GNOME Software are not supported, so users must use KDE Plasma Discover or the DNF system upgrade command.
