ProtonUp-Qt, an open-source GUI that streamlines the installation and updating of Proton-GE and Wine-based compatibility layers, enabling Linux gamers to run Windows-exclusive titles on their preferred distributions, has rolled out version 2.15.
This update adds support for the dwproton, a custom Proton build designed to provide a bleeding-edge compatibility tool with additional patches and fixes beyond standard Proton releases. Users can now install and manage dwproton alongside Proton-GE, Wine-GE, Tkg builds, Luxtorpeda, Boxtron, and SteamTinkerLaunch.
Several fixes are included in this update:
- Kron4ek builds have been corrected, restoring the ability to choose between amd64 and wow64 variants.
- The GE-Proton install directory for Lutris has been fixed and now correctly points to runners/wine.
- General improvements and bug fixes related to compatibility tool handling.
The application also remains optimized for game consoles and handheld PCs, with built-in gamepad support.
ProtonUp-Qt 2.15 is available as an AppImage. The Flathub release is expected a few days later. Users choosing the AppImage can download it, mark it as executable with chmod +x ProtonUp-Qt*.AppImage, and launch it directly.
