Ubuntu Touch, the community-driven mobile OS stewarded by the UBports Foundation, has just released OTA-10 based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (“Focal”). It’s a modest update, with the main highlight being the new upgrader—a tool that lays the foundation for the transition to Ubuntu Touch 24.04.
Plus, the release also extends device support, notably adding the Rabbit R1 to the list of officially supported hardware. Bug fixes and minor improvements round out the release, including changes to aethercast, BlueZ, lomiri-system-settings, and LXC Android configuration.
OTA-10 is rolling out gradually to supported devices, including:
- Fairphone 3, 3+, and 4
- Google Pixel 3a and 3a XL
- OnePlus 5/5T, 6/6T, Nord N10 5G, and N100
- Sony Xperia X
- Volla Phone series and Volla Tablet
- Xiaomi Redmi 9, 9 Prime, and Note 9 series
- Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1
- Lenovo Tab M10 HD (2nd Gen)
- JingPad A1
- Rabbit R1 (new in this release)
Existing Ubuntu Touch users on the Stable channel will receive OTA-10 via the “System Settings” > “Updates screen.” Updates are delivered in phases to reduce risk, though users can manually trigger the update via adb shell
if they want it immediately.
New users can install Ubuntu Touch by following the instructions provided on the devices portal.

I wish they had more support for newer devices. I have a pixel 7 that I kept as a backup device but unfortunately this does not work on it and I’m not not going to buy a even a older pixel for this or a phone that would get even worst cell coverage and support where I live. My pixel 7 currently has grapheneos and by the time ubuntu touch supports it many years from now if ever the battery in my pixel will probably be ruined.
