TrueNAS Connect Debuts With a Modern Web Dashboard for NAS Management

TrueNAS Connect introduces a new browser-based control panel for secure, centralized TrueNAS system management.

iXsystems has introduced TrueNAS Connect, a new browser-based control panel designed to centralize and simplify the management of TrueNAS systems. The service extends the existing TrueNAS experience by bringing monitoring, alerting, and configuration tools together in one place — all accessible from any web browser.

First things first – TrueNAS Connect doesn’t replace the familiar TrueNAS interface. Instead, it enhances it with a cloud-hosted management layer designed to improve visibility and control.

The service will initially support systems running TrueNAS 25.10, with a test rollout beginning alongside TrueNAS 25.10-RC1 this month. Community Edition users can now try the pre-release version, while a broader rollout for Enterprise systems is expected by March 2026.

The main goal is simplicity. Once logged in, users can monitor system health, storage capacity, and drive status at a glance. It can also send automatic alerts for system events, temperature changes, or failed drives. SSL registration is handled automatically, ensuring encrypted communication between systems without additional setup.

Regarding security, TrueNAS Connect operates over secure WebSockets within private networks and doesn’t store login credentials on TrueNAS servers. Access currently requires OAuth authentication via Google or GitHub, with plans to add support for additional providers in the future. Users can optionally store local credentials using their browser’s built-in keyring, keeping sensitive data under their own control.

Moreover, TrueNAS Connect introduces inventory management, allowing users to track hardware assets, generate reports, and export data in CSV or JSON format. The enclosure mapping feature provides a visual layout of disks and pools, enabling administrators to identify drive health or locate failures quickly.

Two tiers of service are available. The Foundation tier is free for all users and includes core features such as email alerts, SSL setup, and single-system management. The upcoming Plus tier, priced at $50 per NAS per year, adds fleet-wide management, SMS and PagerDuty alerts, historical performance data, and app management for up to four systems or one petabyte of total storage.

For existing TrueCommand users, iXsystems confirmed that version 3.2 will continue to support TrueNAS 11.0 and later. TrueCommand remains the preferred option for air-gapped or on-prem environments, while TrueNAS Connect serves as a hosted alternative with simpler deployment and scaling.

Users can register their systems and test the new service at connect.truenas.com. For more information, see the announcement.
