Raspberry Pi has expanded its official touchscreen lineup with a new 10-inch Touch Display 2, available now for $80 through the company’s network of approved resellers.
The new model joins the existing 5-inch and 7-inch Touch Display 2 options, but the larger physical size is not the only difference. It features a 1200×1920-pixel resolution, an 85-degree viewing angle, and support for ten simultaneous touch points. By comparison, the smaller versions support five-finger touch input.
Like Raspberry Pi’s other official displays, the 10-inch model draws power directly from the connected Raspberry Pi. The package includes the required cables, connectors, and mounting hardware, so users do not need to purchase the basic connection components separately.
The capacitive touchscreen is supported out of the box by Raspberry Pi OS and requires no manual calibration. Once connected, it should work immediately with the operating system’s existing display and touchscreen drivers.
However, compatibility is more limited than with the smaller Touch Display 2 models. The new 10-inch version works with Raspberry Pi 5 and Raspberry Pi Compute Module boards connected through a Compute Module IO Board or another suitable carrier board.
It is not compatible with Raspberry Pi 4, earlier standard Raspberry Pi models, or the Raspberry Pi Zero series. The reason is the display’s higher resolution, which requires a four-lane DSI connection. Older Raspberry Pi boards provide a two-lane display interface and therefore cannot supply the necessary bandwidth.
The larger screen should make the new display particularly useful for home automation dashboards, touchscreen kiosks, robotics interfaces, digital signage, gaming systems, and control panels for workshop or laboratory equipment. It may also be a more sensible option for compact Raspberry Pi desktop systems where the existing 5-inch and 7-inch displays are too small.
