Coming three weeks after Plasma 6.7.3, the fourth maintenance update to the Plasma 6.7 desktop series, Plasma 6.7.4, has been released by the KDE Project, including a further set of stability enhancements and bug fixes for KWin, Discover, Spectacle, the new Plasma Login Manager, and a number of the core desktop components.
A large part of the work is on the KWin side. The window manager and Wayland compositor in Plasma now feature a fix for problems caused by GPU resets, correct the premature uninstallation of graphics devices that currently have no outputs connected, and properly deallocate the scanout buffers used by virtual layers.
KWin also enhances the way in which windows are managed when the screen is locked or turned off via DPMS, fixing the issue with border activation in the Window View effect, and includes a new KWIN_RENDER_NODES environment variable for selecting render nodes. In addition, the standalone X11 version of KWin is fixed to prevent the crash-restart command from overflowing.
Regarding Plasma Login Manager, wallpaper should now remain displayed even if a monitor is disconnected and then reconnected, and there is another fix which stops the QML engine from being lost when all the greeter windows are destroyed.
KDE has also sorted out how wallpaper permissions are handled and reversed a change to the virtual terminal that could cause problems when handing off a session.
Discover removes destroyed resources from its update model rather than leaving invalid entries behind; additionally, the software manager rates the usefulness of the correct review regardless of how the list is sorted and makes visual adjustments to the entries for applications that use non-default backends.
Spectacle screenshot tool once again scans for QR codes when editing an existing image, not just when dealing with newly captured screenshots, and Print Manager now occasionally reloads the print queue while prints are running.
Apart from that, Plasma Desktop received a fix for the issue that occurs when items are dragged onto grouped entries in Task Manager while floating applets are enabled. Plus, when the Down arrow key is pressed, the emoji selector correctly shifts focus from its search field to the results, and the game controller settings module no longer triggers an out-of-range exception, which could have caused it to fail.
The Digital Clock widget also includes two minor visual improvements: the font family that is currently selected is now used for the time-zone label, and the label resizes properly when displaying seconds is turned on or off. Furthermore, Plasma fixes a problem which might have prevented the screen power-management inhibition from being reacquired after it had already been released.
Finally, the desktop portal component of KDE now supports version 5 of the screencast interface and includes mapping identifiers for EIS users. This release also ensures that global shortcuts are not registered when a portal session is being created.
