Today, KDE announced the release of the KDE Plasma 6.1.3 bugfix update, a follow-up to the major June 2024 release of Plasma 6.1, addresses several bugs and introduces numerous tweaks and enhancements to improve stability and usability.

Plasma 6.1.3 Highlights

Plasma 6.1.3 focuses primarily on minor but crucial fixes that enhance the overall user experience. Notable adjustments include updates to the KWin window manager and the Plasma desktop, targeting improved functionality and system compatibility across various distributions.

  • KWin Enhancements: The update relaxes constraints on nightlight plugin custom times, ensuring better usability at different times of the day. Additionally, it prevents maximized windows from being tiled incorrectly, a tweak that will benefit users employing multiple monitors or working with several open windows simultaneously.
  • Flatpak Integration: KDE has also streamlined the handling of Flatpak applications. This update ensures smoother rebase transitions for runtimes, proper uninstallation of end-of-life references, and better error handling.
  • Global Shortcuts and Multimedia: The kglobalacceld daemon now processes invalid keycodes more explicitly, preventing crashes and unresponsive behavior. Improvements in the kpipewire component enhance multimedia interaction, which is especially important for users relying on KDE for audio and video applications.
  • Remote Desktop and Display Management: The krdp module includes new tweaks that enhance remote desktop interactions, such as better state handling and video stream management. These changes aim to provide a smoother remote desktop experience in various network conditions.
KDE Plasma 6.1.3

As you can expect, Plasma 6.1.3 also brings several UI improvements, such as better handling of authentication prompts on the lock screen and fixes for icon display issues. Furthermore, updates to DRM backends, screencasting, and screenshot plugins improve performance and stability in graphic handling.

The release also brings some improvements to its mobile version. Adjustments to home screen interactions and accessibility to settings further polish the mobile experience. Additionally, some enhancements were made to the Plasma NetworkManager to provide a seamless networking experience across all devices.
