KDE Gear 25.04.1 Apps Collection Rolls Out, Here’s What’s New

KDE Gear 25.04.1 apps collection delivers bugfixes and updated translations across 180+ apps and libraries, including Dolphin, Konsole, and Cantor.

Today, less than a month after the 25.04 apps collection release, the KDE team has rolled out its first maintenance update to this series, KDE Gear 25.04.1, addressing many bugs.

Among the key fixes, Cantor, a front-end to powerful mathematics and statistics packages, received a crucial correction, resolving a LaTeX typesetting issue. Similarly, the Dolphin file manager had a critical fix to properly restore folders, tabs, and window states from previous sessions.

Moreover, Konsole, KDE’s terminal emulator, now correctly handles search wrapping at boundaries.

Kdenlive, KDE’s video editing powerhouse, also saw several important enhancements. Issues causing crashes when deleting multiple bin clips and moving clips around the timeline have been rectified.

Plus, memory efficiency improvements and reduced I/O load during audio thumbnail generation have made the software notably smoother for end-users.

The KDE Connect application—popular for integrating mobile devices with desktops—also received some attention. It improved compatibility with Windows environments, ensuring smoother initialization and reducing potential crashes related to WinRT plugins.

Falkon, KDE’s lightweight web browser, corrected issues with location bar inputs and resolved crashes when creating the bookmarks toolbar, ensuring a more stable browsing experience on Wayland desktops.

Lastly, KOrganizer and EventViews have improved calendar interactions, with better session memory and layout management.
