Hyprland, the dynamic tiling Wayland compositor, has released version 0.57.1, a maintenance update addressing regressions in the previous 0.57 release. The main fixes target black screens on NVIDIA systems and problems with keyboard shortcuts.
On the input side, Hyprland 0.57.1 corrects an issue consuming exceptions during keybinding chord resolution. Another fix prevents keybindings from shadowing mouse input events, addressing problems with how certain input actions are handled.
For display handling, the update fixes NVIDIA black screens and corrects how the maximum bits per color (max_bpc) value is set based on the configured display bit depth. It also restores optional KMS DMA-BUF filtering and updates DMA-BUF format feedback after configuration changes.
The rendering changes include a fix ensuring small surfaces are drawn at their logical size. Group-bar decorations now have their boxes rounded in device coordinates to match damage regions, correcting a rendering inconsistency.
Another fix addresses a session-lock protocol error that could occur when a display output was removed. Fullscreen windows now retain their fullscreen state when an application requests maximization.
Other corrections include fixing a parsing underflow affecting workspace behavior, adjusting permitted configuration values for tablets, and correcting the Lua configuration validator for custom acceleration profiles.
