The popular open-source and cross-platform video editor Shotcut has released version 26.7, introducing a new built-in library of ready-to-use creative assets, graphics adapter selection for multi-GPU systems, and a new video effect.
The standout feature is the new Elements panel, which can be accessed via the File > New and View menus as well as through the Generate buttons on the application.
It includes a lightweight library of stock assets that increases the installation size by only about 22 MB and provides features such as emoji stickers, sound effects, overlay transitions, animated text, and other graphical elements. The developers state that all the content provided is royalty-free, may be used in commercial projects, and does not need attribution.

Moreover, Shotcut 26.7 includes a new option named ‘Graphics Adapter’ in the Settings menu on both Linux and Windows. This option is displayed only on computers with multiple GPUs and lets users select which graphics adapter the program should use.
The app also includes a Shake video filter, which can be applied to recorded footage to mimic the look of a handheld camera or create more dynamic visual effects.
The update represents the first instance in which a user interface generated by Shotcut’s experimental UI generator has been officially adopted and made available. Plus, the visual appearance of the Fusion Dark and Fusion Light themes has been improved, especially in tabs and the Subtitles interface.
In addition to the new features, Shotcut 26.7 includes numerous fixes. Most important among these is the restoration of support for VST2 and LV2 audio plugins, which had been accidentally omitted from all available versions.
The update also fixes corrupted colors in dissolve transitions when the Linear 10-bit CPU processing mode is used and ensures that the Convert function maintains 10-bit video when a 10-bit processing mode is in use.
The audio filter based on RNNoise now functions correctly when exporting at sample rates other than 48 kHz, and the subtitle features in Shotcut have also been fixed to remove one-frame timing errors from both the timeline subtitle bar and the Subtitle Burn In video filter.
Further corrections cover the Crop: Source filter when preview scaling and hardware decoding are enabled, the startup warning related to libGLESv2.dll on certain Windows systems, and the manual override of the QSG_RHI_BACKEND environment variable on Windows.
For additional details, see the changelog. Shotcut 26.7 is now available on the project’s GitHub release page, with builds for Linux, macOS, and Windows.
