LibreOffice 26.2.3 Released with More Than 40 Bug Fixes

LibreOffice 26.2.3 arrives with over 40 fixes, improving stability across DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, Writer, Calc, and Impress.

The Document Foundation has announced LibreOffice 26.2.3, the third maintenance update to the 26.2 series introduced in early February, now available for download for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Among the Writer-related fixes, LibreOffice 26.2.3 resolves several DOCX round-trip problems. These include charts placed in footnotes in Word-created DOCX documents producing broken files after saving, image sizes not preserved when saving ODT files as DOCX, borders missing when documents are reopened in Word, and some files with content controls becoming unreadable in Word after being saved again.

The update also addresses several DOCX import issues, including table text moving into reference fields or transferring to the next cell when a following cell starts with a reference field. Another fix corrects a broken formula caused by an unescaped bracket during DOCX import.

Impress also receives several fixes, correcting PPTX issues involving text rotation, including z-rotated text disappearing from shapes or importing without rotation. Plus, the update fixes an older ODP file that failed to open, resolves a PPTX audio stream handling issue during export, and addresses a problem where Impress could consume all system memory when printing presentation notes.

In the Calc, the release fixes a crash caused by using the lock feature in an AutoFilter with dates, improves slow rejection of tracked changes, restores named range import from older XLS files, and corrects XLS-to-XLSX export of external references in conditional formatting. It also adds the missing Saudi Riyal currency symbol.

LibreOffice 26.2.3 also includes general Writer and UI fixes. These cover incorrect initial word count after loading a document, a crash with pinyin input while recording tracked changes, vertical writing differences between document view and PDF output, layout-loop problems with deeply nested floating tables, and a lock file remaining after closing a repaired document.

Other changes improve smaller interface details, such as clearer indication when a font has been substituted, centered color previews in wide dropdown color controls, updated macro organizer buttons after creating a macro, and a fix for a crash when inserting a hyperlink while the system clipboard is empty.

The next update, 26.2.4, is scheduled for early June. LibreOffice 26.2 will be supported through November 30, 2026, after which it’ll reach end of life for that release series.
