Over eight months after the previous 2.7.10 release, the KeePassXC team has unveiled the latest version of its free & open-source password manager, KeePassXC 2.7.11, a community-driven fork of KeePassX that provides cross-platform support for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
A major addition in this release is the expanded inline attachment viewer. And more specifically, KeePassXC can now preview images, HTML, and Markdown files directly in the application, and supports editing text attachments.
Additionally, database operations received a new merge confirmation dialog, designed to prevent accidental overwrites when syncing changes between instances.
The update also adds an option to automatically generate a password whenever a new entry is created, streamlining common workflows. KeeShare gains support for group synchronization, making it more flexible for users who share parts of their database.
Several search improvements are also available, including a “Wait for Enter” mode, predefined searches for TOTP entries, and a shortcut to jump to groups directly from search results.
On the bug-fixes side, KeePassXC 2.7.11 resolves a wide range of interface issues. The application now restores its window geometry correctly when launched from the tray, and a macOS-specific issue where secure input mode could get stuck has been fixed.
Other fixes address tab behavior, keyboard shortcuts, clipboard handling on exit, and lockups when multiple tabs load at startup.
Additional improvements focus on TOTP visibility, URL wildcard matching, placeholder handling, and layout consistency across the interface.
For users integrating KeePassXC with browsers, the update restricts automatic site allowance when adding entries from the extension, adds group-exposure limits, and improves handling of Passkey response objects. Importers also see quality-of-life enhancements, with better support for Bitwarden timestamps, CSV metadata, and Proton Pass entries.
Lastly, platform-specific updates include the new macOS icon, new Window and Help menus for a more native feel, and an installer option on Windows to add KeePassXC to the system PATH. On Linux, the release fixes a startup delay caused by StartupNotify settings and improves memory initialization when using password input through pipes.
