Fwupd 2.0.16 Released with New Search Feature

Fwupd 2.0.16 introduces a new search feature and fixes FreeBSD update issues, improving firmware update reliability.

Only two days after the previous 2.0.15 release, fwupd, an open-source tool designed to simplify firmware updates on Linux-based systems, has reached version 2.0.16, introducing a major improvement—namely, search functionality.

In light of this, this release adds a search feature to both fwupdtool and fwupdmgr. That means users can now quickly look up available updates or information directly from the command line, making update management a bit more straightforward.

At the same time, the developers tackled some important bug fixes. One issue involved missing release locations when loading from artifacts, which has now been resolved.

In addition, the team worked through the last remaining problems that were preventing updates from working correctly on FreeBSD, ensuring smoother operation for users on that platform.
