Kodi 19.0 “Matrix” Brings A Wealth Of Changes And Improved Decoding

Kodi 19.0 "Matrix" brings a new features, visual makeover, and significant improvements to playback to this popular home theater software.

Kodi is one of the most popular media center applications. It combines many media sources into one easy-to-navigate interface. After a wait of almost 2 years, Kodi 19 is now finally rolling out, nicknamed “Matrix”.

What’s new in Kodi 19

Above all Kodi 19 mostly focuses on under-the-hood improvements. The most noticeable change is that the developers have moved to Python 3 in this release.

Kodi add-ons used to be programmed in Python 2, so Kodi now requires all add-ons to run in the Python 3 environment.

Much of the community has come with us, so, hopefully, your favourite addons will still function, but we’re at the mercy of third-party contributors to update their work.

Unfortunately, as with most breaking compatibility changes, there are still some add-ons not updated to work on Kodi 19.

  • For audio lovers, metadata handling has been updated and thereโ€™s a new, Matrix-inspired visualization.
  • Kodi 19 “Matrix” also comes with a refreshed user interface.
  • Regarding subtitles, now youโ€™ll get options to select a dark grey color and set the opacity for the captions.
  • PVR & Live TV Features – added reminders, home screen widgets, navigation and dialog controls.

You can download Kodi 19 “Matrix” now from the projects website.
