The popular open-source BitTorrent client qBittorrent has released version 5.3, bringing a substantial collection of new features, Web UI improvements, expanded networking options, and security fixes.
One notable change concerns torrent management. Users can filter torrents by infohash, ban entire IP address ranges, and copy file paths directly from the Content tab. The release also improves torrent content management, adds an option to match all share limits, and reworks .torrent file backups.
Additional controls give users more flexibility over seeding and peer connections. These include settings for outgoing seeding connections and the maximum number of outstanding block requests from a peer. Plus, the Peers list gains a new Contribution column, and the Statistics dialog displays request latency and queued tracker announces.

The Web UI also receives many improvements. Virtual lists are now enabled by default, improving responsiveness when managing many torrents. There are new Select All and Invert Selection actions, secondary column sorting, improved folder navigation, and an indication of available disk space when adding torrents.
Moreover, remote users can pause and resume the entire BitTorrent session through the Web UI, configure sessions to start paused, and specify a shutdown timeout. Search tabs are preserved across restarts, and RSS rules can be exported and imported to move configurations between installations.
On the security side, the developers have fixed an authentication bypass vulnerability involving spoofed X-Forwarded-For headers in the Web UI. Cross-site request detection has also been strengthened using the Sec-Fetch-Site header, while certain Web API operations now require POST requests.
Additional fixes address SMTP injection through unsanitized email content, prevent torrent entries from being created through unauthenticated tracker announcements, and correct several IPv6 address filtering issues.
Networking improvements include new configuration options for I2P Peer Exchange and inbound and outbound I2P tunnel length variance. Users can also configure the WebTorrent STUN server through an exposed libtorrent setting.
For everyday usability, qBittorrent 5.3 adds an Open Destination Folder toolbar button, improves deletion confirmation dialogs, supports sending email notifications to multiple recipients, and adds an option to ignore hidden files when creating torrents.
Finally, the release also includes fixes for incorrect transfer speed reporting, forced tracker reannouncements, torrent completion handling, and free disk space detection.
For more information, see the official changelog. qBittorrent 5.3 is available for download from the project’s official website, with Linux users also able to obtain it through their distribution repositories once the packages are updated.
