PeaZip 11.1 has been released as the latest version of the open-source, cross-platform archive manager, bringing updated compression backends, security fixes, and several usability improvements across the application.
This release updates the 7z/p7zip backend to version 26.01. On Linux, both aarch64 and x86_64 builds now use Tino Reichardt’s 7-Zip ZS 25.01 v1.5.7 Release 4 instead of 7zalt. The bundled Pea utility is now version 1.31.
On the security side, PeaZip 11.1 resolves a path traversal evasion issue affecting .pea archive extraction and a Windows-specific input sanitization issue in PowerShell-related functions.
Moreover, PeaZip 11.1 improves pre-parsing performance for very large archives. The optimization can reduce processing time by up to 15% on a reference archive with 250,000 items.

Several UI changes are included as well. Modal forms are now centered relative to the main window, and confirmation and cancellation actions now align with standard OK/Cancel behavior and Esc/Enter keyboard shortcuts. Plus, a new information pop-up appears when Browser optimization is set to “fast” or “no pre-parse” under Options > Settings > Performance.
Additionally, the “Extract to…” submenu mirrors the output path picker used in archiving and extraction screens. New options allow extraction to the last used path or the selected item’s path. Common filesystem destinations are grouped under a new Filesystem submenu, bookmarks have their own submenu, and storage units now appear at the root of the Filesystem submenu.
Finally, this release also includes several fixes. Archive browsing functions correctly when the 7z alias is set, the status bar comment label is hidden after deleting an archive comment, and Windows context menu entries for direct archive creation now enumerate directory contents consistently with other functions.
