Vivaldi has released version 7.9, introducing a redesigned browsing experience, alongside updates to its built-in Mail client.
The main highlight is the new UI Auto-hide feature, which removes interface elements like the tab bar, address bar, and toolbars, so web content fills the entire window.
The interface reappears instantly when the cursor moves to the screen edge, balancing immersion and accessibility. The feature is fully customizable, letting users choose which UI elements to hide or keep visible.
This functionality extends to full-screen mode as well, allowing users to enable auto-hide while retaining quick access to panels and controls when needed.
Another major addition is the new Follower Tab feature, designed to improve how users navigate links. Instead of opening links in separate tabs and losing context, users can open them in a tiled side-by-side view. Subsequent links clicked from the main page load in the follower tab, so users can explore content without losing their original position.
The release also brings improvements to Vivaldi Mail. Users can now open the mail composer in a separate window, making it easier to write messages alongside other tasks or across multiple displays. Switching between rich text and plain text is now a single toggle, and internal optimizations reduce memory usage and improve performance with large inboxes.
