The KDE team has released Plasma 6.6.2, the second bugfix update in the Plasma 6.6 series. Much of the update focuses on KWin, Plasma’s window manager and compositor. The DRM backend receives several crash fixes and improved output handling for mirrored and placeholder displays.
Additional updates address decoration input regions, 3D LUT handling, and disabled mirrored outputs. On X11, fullscreen restoration from a maximized state now works as intended.
Remote desktop support via KRdp has been made more stable. Resolved issues include thread-safety in VideoStream, a potential deadlock in the RdpConnection destructor, and a crash in PortalSession. Plasma 6.6 also improves handling of Windows clients re-advertising GFX capabilities and corrects scroll wheel behavior for high-resolution or zero-position events.
KDE Discover receives usability and backend improvements, including corrected arrow direction in “See more” links and simplified update state tracking. The Flatpak Permissions interface has been visually refined, with aligned form labels and consistent control sizing.
The Kicker and Kickoff launchers have improved hover behavior, scrollbar sizing, and search visuals. Folder View now uses the system accent color for selection rectangles. Clipboard handling has been strengthened to remove secrets when clearing contents. OSD components are further updated to move away from deprecated APIs.
The Plasma NetworkManager applet now correctly treats connected bridges and VLANs as active connections for icon display. The login manager features improved session sorting logic and resolves configuration edge cases.
Regarding core libraries and supporting modules, libkscreen now synchronizes physical display size properties more reliably. libplasma logs warnings when applets use invalid sizes. Plus, the Oxygen theme restores correct minimized window indicators and scrollbar sizing.
Finally, Spectacle resolves crashes related to KDE Connect exports and ensures proper destruction of Qt widget menu singletons, and System Settings now improves navigation by correctly displaying subcategory pages after selecting search results.
