KDE Plasma 6.7 to Introduce Rounded Highlights

Plasma 6.7 brings rounded highlight styling to Breeze apps and refines network settings with expanded OpenVPN options and merged Wi-Fi tabs.

After the release of Plasma 6.6, KDE developers are working on version 6.7. A more visible change appears in Breeze with the introduction of rounder selection highlights in QtWidgets-based applications such as Dolphin, Okular, and KMail.

Previously, these apps used sharper highlight shapes than QtQuick-based components. The update aligns their visuals with the rounded list highlights already used in QtQuick apps and menus, improving consistency and preparing for the upcoming Union styling system (an upcoming internal theming framework for KDE Plasma).

Networking also receives refinements. The OpenVPN configuration interface now exposes more settings supported by the backend. Plus, the separate “Wi-Fi” and “Wi-Fi Security” tabs in Network Connections have been merged into a single page to simplify configuration.

On top of that, System Settings’ Application Permissions page now includes a button to revoke all active screen-casting sessions at once, removing the need to close them individually. The Kickoff application launcher provides clearer feedback when marking an app as a favorite by briefly flashing the “Favorites” category, and Notifications now display updated text and icons.

Finally, Plasma 6.7 adds support for the Vietnamese lunar calendar in the Digital Clock widget. For more information, refer to the “This Week in Plasma” post on the KDE Blogs.

Plasma 6.7 remains under active development, and many additional changes will land before the final release. However, before it arrives, there are still five maintenance updates left in the 6.6 series (up to 6.6.6). The current release is 6.6.1, and version 6.6.2 is scheduled for March 3.
