Today, nearly two months after the 25.08 apps collection release, the KDE team has rolled out its second maintenance update to this series, KDE Gear 25.08.2, with a focus on resolving issues and enhancing stability.
Among the notable updates, NeoChat received several fixes to improve push notifications, message handling, and D-Bus integration. Uploading videos now correctly sends thumbnails, and object ownership for chat room members has been fine-tuned to improve reliability.
Tokodon, KDE’s Mastodon client, also got attention in this release. Push notifications are now more reliable, the OAuth code has been simplified, and UI alignment issues with custom emoji have been addressed. These tweaks make the app feel smoother and more consistent across different display modes.
The Itinerary app saw several transport and travel-related improvements, including better handling of funiculars and aerial lifts, more robust data extraction for airline and booking documents, and fixes for issues affecting arrival-based searches.
It can now handle new ticket formats, such as SNCF SSB barcodes and AirAsia PDF itineraries, while also improving parsing of booking.com confirmations.
Elsewhere, KClock fixes an issue where the bottom toolbar wasn’t updating its height correctly, and KAlarm resolves an infinite loop that could occur when alarms are triggered under certain read-only conditions. KWeather simplifies its settings logic and interface, removing unnecessary animations and improving hover feedback.
Developers also refined KPublicTransport and KItinerary to improve parsing of legacy transit data, handle new MOTIS updates, and enhance extraction logic for international train and flight itineraries. These background updates help ensure KDE’s travel apps continue to perform reliably across data sources and regions.
