DavMail 7.1 Exchange Gateway Improves Microsoft 365 and IMAP Support

DavMail 7.1 improves Microsoft Graph integration, IMAP compatibility, calendar handling, and connection reliability for Exchange and Microsoft 365 users.

DavMail 7.1 has been released as the latest version of the cross-platform open-source Exchange and Microsoft 365 gateway, improving Microsoft Graph integration, IMAP compatibility, calendar handling, and connection reliability for Exchange and Microsoft 365 users.

One main change in DavMail 7.1 is improved Microsoft Graph API integration. The release replaces the previous A–Z lookup method for the Exchange Global Address List with native people search, making contact searches more efficient while reducing unnecessary API requests.

The update also improves authentication token validation, adds better handling of temporary Graph API errors with automatic retries, and includes a workaround to access Exchange Online Archive mailboxes through Graph.

Calendar functionality has several fixes. DavMail now handles recurring events and time zones more reliably, improves meeting room booking support, and correctly identifies canceled appointments. Additional changes address calendar synchronization problems and reduce duplicate event creation.

IMAP support has been expanded with UID EXPUNGE and UNKEYWORD functionality. Date-based searches using SINCE, BEFORE, and ON now follow RFC 3501 more closely, while mailbox operations benefit from improved synchronization and error handling.

On top of that, the developers fixed an issue where IMAP connections could become stuck after a client disconnected, improved MOVE operations to generate appropriate EXPUNGE notifications, and made network failure reporting more consistent.

For users connecting to traditional Exchange servers through Exchange Web Services, version 7.1 adds room booking improvements, more reliable handling of recurring meetings, and better detection of environments where EWS has been disabled.

Another worth-noting addition is built-in self-signed TLS certificate generation. Users can now create PKCS#12 certificates directly from the settings interface or through the new -generateCert command-line option.

Finally, the release addresses several CalDAV issues, including invalid alarm durations and calendar discovery problems, while fixing SWT graphical interface deadlocks and improving SMTP error handling.

DavMail 7.1 is available for Linux, Windows, and macOS. Linux users can download the Debian package or platform-independent Java archive from the project’s SourceForge downloads page.
