Kdenlive 26.04.3 Released as the Final Maintenance Update in the Series

Kdenlive 26.04.3, an open-source video editor, arrives with crash fixes, timeline improvements, effect corrections, and continued security hardening.

The Kdenlive team has released Kdenlive 26.04.3, the third and final maintenance update in the 26.04 series of this open-source, free, cross-platform video editor.

Among the most notable fixes is a crash that could occur when undoing the creation of a sequence from a selection. Another crash was addressed when trying to record audio without an available audio device, which should make the recording workflow more robust in setups where audio hardware is missing, disconnected, or incorrectly detected.

The update also continues the security hardening work introduced during the 26.04 cycle. More specifically, Kdenlive now ensures that unwanted commands are not executed when used with MLT versions older than 7.40.

Several effects-related fixes are included as well. The Rectangular Alpha Mask effect received keyframe corrections, while the Rotoscoping effect now properly allows users to move a shape after playing the monitor.

In addition, the release fixes an issue affecting effects with multiple color pickers, including a problem where the effect was not disabled correctly while picking a color.

Moreover, this update improves timeline behavior by fixing issues with the playhead moving out of view during playback and clips with mixes remaining on the wrong subplaylist after being cut. Multi-stream video clips now enforce the correct video stream.

Other changes include fixes for a possible crash on exit, incorrect initialization of a fake rectangle when adding an effect, audio thumbnail handling with invalid empty paths, QML shortcut warnings, and the clearing of recent history when closing the splash screen.

For additional details, see the release announcement. Kdenlive 26.04.3 is available from the project’s download page and through distribution package managers.
