HandBrake 1.11.1 Video Transcoder Improves Stability With Audio and UI Fixes

HandBrake 1.11.1 video transcoder delivers stability fixes, updated libraries, and multiple Windows improvements, including UI and accessibility fixes.

HandBrake 1.11.1 has been released as the first maintenance update in the 1.11 series for this open-source video transcoder, fixing a crash that could occur when scanning PCM audio tracks from DVD-Video and Blu-ray sources. This issue affected media detection during the initial scan phase and is now resolved.

Several third-party libraries have also been updated. HandBrake 1.11.1 now includes Jansson 2.15.0 for JSON handling and zlib 1.3.2, aligning the application with newer upstream components.

On Windows, the update removes the dependency on the Microsoft .NET 8 Desktop Runtime. Instead, users are now required to install the newer .NET Desktop Runtime 10.0.

The release also fixes issues in the file save dialog and improves compatibility with screen reader tools, addressing problems that prevented combo box controls from being properly read.

For more details, see the changelog. HandBrake 1.11.1 is available now for Linux, macOS, and Windows.

As with previous updates, users are advised to ensure that no encoding jobs are running before upgrading. Backing up custom presets and application preferences is also recommended, as compatibility with newer versions is not guaranteed.
