Today, less than a month after the 25.04.1 apps collection release, the KDE team has rolled out its second maintenance update to this series, KDE Gear 25.04.2.
Among the notable fixes, the popular video editing tool Kdenlive addresses several critical issues. Users will be pleased that bin clip effects will no longer disappear after disabling a timeline clip. Other fixes include a crash issue involving gradients, improved microphone access permissions on Snapcraft builds, and a resolution for subtitle positioning errors.
Meanwhile, chess enthusiasts using Knights will benefit from a straightforward yet essential update: the app now correctly saves game files with the proper “.pgn” extension, even if users forget to specify it manually.
The classic board game Kreversi sees enhanced usability, particularly regarding the undo functionality, ensuring consistent availability after the game ends.
Not limited to games and multimedia applications, KDE Gear 25.04.2 also includes numerous updates for productivity tools. For example, the Elisa music player now properly hides invisible lyrics, while KMail users gain stability improvements that prevent crashes and ensure smoother interactions with Akonadi services.
Additional highlights include improved train direction displays in Itinerary, refined platform parsing in public transport applications, and smoother operation across messaging apps like NeoChat, which now better handles room navigation on mobile devices and message editing.
