Immich 1.127 Introduces Face Tagging & Memory Enhancements

Immich 1.127, a self-hosted photo and video backup solution, enhances the memories feature, adds manual face tagging, and introduces a star rating search.

Immich, an open-source self-hosted photo and video backup solution, has just released version 1.127, bringing an important security fix alongside several handy enhancements.

This update solves a critical cross-site scripting issue in the HTML for the shared link page. Previously, user-generated data could be manipulated and included directly in the resulting HTML, posing a serious security risk. Fortunately, the team has swiftly mitigated the problem by sanitizing the data prior to rendering.

Along with the vital security patch, one of the most exciting additions in Immich 1.127 is the ability to tag faces on photos or videos manually. This is especially helpful when the machine learning model fails to detect a person or incorrectly groups a face.

Now, you can add tags by clicking the “+” button under the People section in the media detail panel. From there, a box pops up to let you adjust and select the person you want to tag.

Next up, the Memories feature has received its first major upgrade. Previously, memories were generated on the fly, which could lead to slower performance. Now, memories are pre-generated, meaning they load much faster. Moreover, you can now like and modify the content of these memories.

For users who rely on star ratings to keep their images organized, Immich 1.127 lets you filter searches by star rating directly on the web. Enabling the star rating feature adds a handy new dimension to your media library management, making it easier to locate top-rated photos and videos quickly.

Finally, Immich has made some tweaks to the External Library interface. In light of this, the management page now shows both the photo and video counts. Plus, when you create a new external library, you’ll immediately be prompted for an import path, allowing for a smoother onboarding process.
