Archinstall 3.0.2 Introduces Wayfire Support and Enhanced Features

Archinstall 3.0.2 introduces Wayfire support, improved Btrfs handling, and dataclass configurations, alongside major code cleanups and fixes.

Archinstall 3.0.2, a guided user-friendly TUI (Text User Interface) installer for Arch Linux that aims to simplify the setup process for new users while preserving the flexibility and control seasoned Linux users expect, has just been released.

Notably, this release debuts Wayfire Wayland compositor support, giving users another compelling option for their desktop environment. Beyond this standout feature, the latest release strongly emphasizes code hygiene and maintainability.

Multiple refinements throughout the codebase streamline the overall process, making Archinstall easier to develop, test, and enhance in the future.

For instance, there are now specialized dataclasses for arguments and configuration, plus numerous behind-the-scenes improvements and fixes aimed at polishing partition management, Btrfs functionality, and general system configuration tasks.

Moreover, several long-standing issues have been addressed in this update. Users will notice restored prompts in list menus, more reliable mirror list handling, smoother console scrolling, and improved Btrfs subvolume detection.

Additionally, handling encryption, partition flags, and swap partition creation has been optimized to ensure a more robust installation experience.

Lastly, this release removes certain outdated features as part of ongoing cleanup efforts. A deprecated configuration file has been withdrawn, and support for ReiserFS—already marked for removal since 2022—has finally been phased out.
