KDE Plasma 6.3.2 Desktop Environment Released

KDE Plasma 6.3.2 improves Discover, KWin, and Plasma Addons with important bug fixes and tweaks for a smoother desktop.

Only a week after the release of Plasma 6.3.1, the KDE team rolled out the second bugfix update to its 6.3 series, version 6.3.2. While the changes in this update are relatively minor, they improve the overall usability and performance of the desktop environment.

One of the major focus areas in the new version is Discover, KDE’s built-in software manager, when an issue with the display of nonfree app license name colors is fixed, and transaction handling is refined to improve stability.

Moreover, the KDE Window Decoration Library now exposes the application menu DBus interface information, further improving integration with KDE applications.

Apart from those two highlights, other key refinements include:

  • Plasma Addons: Improved layout for weather applets with large station names.
  • Info Center: Better alignment of GPU information for a cleaner interface.
  • KScreen: Added support for a scaling denominator of 120, fixing display scaling issues.
  • KWin (Window Manager): Multiple bug fixes to improve window handling, brightness management, and HDR support, alongside enhanced compatibility with Qt 6.7.
  • Powerdevil: More robust brightness controls, particularly for devices with external displays and battery-powered systems.
  • Plasma Desktop: Fixes for various UI issues, including better touch scrolling in Kickoff and improved drag selection in Folder View.
  • Plasma Workspace: Clipboard manager Klipper now handles clipboard actions more reliably, and system tray icon management has been optimized.
  • Spectacle: Added support for animated WebP and GIF formats, offering more flexibility for screenshots and screen recordings.
