Archinstall 3.0.14 Fixes Snapper-GRUB Snapshots

Archinstall 3.0.14, a guided installer for Arch Linux, fixes Snapper-GRUB snapshot issues and brings improved EFI bootloader handling.

Archinstall, a guided, user-friendly TUI installer for Arch Linux with a menu-driven setup that provides a semi-automated alternative to the traditional manual Arch installation process, has just rolled out version 3.0.14.

The update includes multiple snapshot-related fixes. Snapper-GRUB integration has been corrected to ensure snapshot entries are properly generated, and f-string handling in the snapshot debug installation has been fixed to avoid runtime errors during debugging.

Bootloader logic receives notable updates. A new dialog now allows the EFI bootloader to be installed to a removable location, improving support for systems that depend on EFI removable media.

Archinstall 3.14 also stops generating BLS and Limine entries for fallback initramfs, preventing unnecessary boot entries. Additionally, the release fixes GRUB’s fallback-from-removable behavior, correcting logic introduced in an earlier commit.

Regarding partitioning, an issue that caused the manual partitioning interface to display an empty screen has been resolved. User input validation has been improved through a refined regex that removes unnecessary characters and allows whitespace for partition values and units, ensuring smoother interaction when defining partitions.

Other improvements include the use of --needed to prevent unwanted package reinstalls and resolve associated issues during installation.

For more information, see the changelog.

Archinstall 3.0.14 is expected to be included in the upcoming December Arch 2025.12.01 installation ISO, scheduled to arrive on December 1st. However, if you’re using an older ISO, you can easily update Archinstall (before launching it) to its latest version by running pacman -S archinstall after the ISO boots.
