Amarok, a free and open-source music player, announced the immediate availability ofย its latest version, 3.1.1, the first bugfix release for Amarok 3.1, “Tricks of the Light.” It brings several small improvements and bug fixes that enhance the user experience.
Among the notable ones, version 3.1.1 includes miscellaneous fixes for toolbars and the return of tag dialog auto-completionsโa functionality that was initially lost during the Qt5/KF5 port.
Moreover, most of the work has happened under the hood to improve the codebase’s Qt6/KF6 compatibility, setting the stage for future updates.
Furthermore, most of the context view QML items have been ported from QtControls 1 to QtControls 2, and the default settings now do not fade out when paused or stopped.
On the bug fixes side, Amarok 3.1.1 fixes:
- The file browser panel toolbar now displays correctly.
- Fixed track editor autocompletions.
- Ensured the home icon is shown in browser breadcrumb widgets.
Looking ahead, for the upcoming 3.2 version coming later this year, the KDE frameworks dependency will be raised to 5.108. This should allow devs to replace the remaining deprecated KF5 functionalities, some of the final barriers preventing Qt6/KF6-based builds from succeeding.
Amarok 3.1.1 music player can be installed from many distributions’ package repositories, which are likely to be updated soon. You can also get the latest version through Flatpak, which is available on Flathub.
